BlaqBonez may not be on your regular “best rappers” cadre. But the young lanky rapper is a bomb. He’s been dropping hot singles consistently for a couple of years now. And that has has kept him on top of the “underground” log.
He had gone from dropping a single with former YBNL rapper, Chinko Ekun, to getting on the prestigious Hennessy Cypher within 2 years. And, then, from dropping his well received “Last Time Under” Mixtape, to delivering an epic reply to M.I Abaga’s controversial single, “You Rappers Should Fix Up Your Life”. Slowly and steadily, Blaqbonez made his way up till he landed a feature on M.I’s “Rendezvous” Playlist.
February witnessed the release of his much-anticipated jam “Bad Boy”. A single, which made it to HipHopHead’s Rap Culture Uno mixtape. “Bad Boy” is still getting positive reviews from industry observers and fans alike.
But since announcing his new “Bad Boy Blaq” project, possibly another commercial mixtape, the “Rambo” rapper had gone silent.
Recall that, sometimes in April, we had reported that the rapper was set to drop a new single titled “PLAY”. We picked up the signals after he announced it via a tweet. Then we reached out to him and he confirmed the release. He told us the single was to drop the next month; that was May.
However, the month of may just ended less than a week ago. And there is still no new BlaqBonez single. All we have is a few updates about the soon-to-come project; “Bad Boy Blaq”.
I decided to talk to him again to make inquiries about the story.
He simply told me: “Yeah, sorry ’bout the delay. This month definitely!”
That sounds like a promise. So if you’ve been expecting to hear new music from Blaq, then you should stay woke this month. The single “Play” is expected to be an Afro-Pop jam, produced by Tempoe.
Meanwhile, DMW rapper, Dremo, recently jumped on Reminisce’s hit “Ajigijaga” to do an impressive cover, dubbed “Nobody”. South African rappers, Nasty C and AKA also have new music. And as usual they are trending across Africa.
Nasty C is gearing up for his debut album “STRINGS AND BLINGS”. While AKA’s collaboration with Reebok Classics is finally ready.
Phenom also teams up with the Beast Of The East, Phyno, for a new single titled “Yem Ego”.
