The anticipation for the release of “Yabo” has been on for a couple of weeks; leading to a feverish pitch. Finally, the long awaited song by G-Ray featuring Six Foot Plus and Amos is here.
The jam is a blend of Hausa and English. The masterful mix of modern and traditional Nigerian music tune will have you on your feet grooving.
Veteran entertainer, G-Ray, born Raymond Yeesuf is releasing this banger under GoldenCity Entertainment. As a dancer, Choreographer, thespian and a musician, G-Ray has been on the scene for a while, with a couple of albums to his name of course.
He is renowned for his exploits with the Press Spoil Crew and Wreckordz. With an extensive background in youth organizations WWJD? and YWAP, the slim emcee is big on intros. And he does not disappoint as he properly wets your cochlea for hearing.
Yabo’s perfectly blended wordplay, rhyme schemes and rhythmic melodies are strung to make up masterful bars. They’ve got you longing for more.
And then there is Six Foot Plus. Born as Alfred Atungu, Yabo features the suave rapper who delivers a great peformance. We all do remember grooving to “millennium buggin” and “anwuli”?
Six Foot Plus is a grand master of Nigerian hip hop music. He has been on collaborations with Jeremiah Gyang not to mention host of albums in his collection. As usual, he comes correct on timing, rhythm and bar structure on this song.
Yep, Six’ still got the charm and is very much on-top of his game. My favorite line being the way he crooned “not going anywhere”
Finally, soft spoken King Amos does a wonderful job on the hook, crooning “yabo, zan ba Ka” and putting it all together just as a pro would. What’s more? Yabo is an ardent and timely reminder of who God is and who He has made us, bringing to mind the following scriptures;
1 Thessalonians 5:18 KJV
In every thing give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Psalm 103:2 KJV
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. 3 minutes, short and sweet, Yabo lightens up your heart and day.
