This is a little write up about a promising artiste who calls himself J song. His name is chukwuebuka Daniel Okechukwu. He hails from Ozalla in Igbo Etiti local government area of Nsukka in Enugu state. He is a rapper, singer and a prolific song writer. Here is what we gathered from the bright star;
How did you come about your stage name?
When I was 14, I realized that I have great love for music. I always sang even wen I did not understand what the lyrics meant. And sometimes I use my friends names to compose songs and made them dance to it. I also enjoyed singing especially when when I went on errands.
Tell us about your family background
I was born into a family of seven. We live happily and love each other but the only problem is that we are financially down. However I have promised myself that I will make my family smile trough music.
J Song how do you combine music and academics
It wasn’t easy for me because I am not schooling as it is now. I only finished my secondary level and still hoping to gain admission into the university.
What has been your greatest challenge and success as an artiste
Its not easy being an upcoming artist in Nigeria. The challenges that I am facing now are finance related. There is no money to record my track and get them released. Right now I have a lot of songs written down but no money to push them.
You have a unique style, which top artiste would you like to feature and why
I do have a unique style and if given the opportunity I would feature Phyno. I love his kind of rap and I respect his songs because most of them are in native Igbo. That is a language i understand well.
Who is your role model and why do you respect him
Phyno is my role model, I like all his songs because they are always concrete most especially when he raps in Igbo.
Where do you see yourself 2 years from now?
It is my dream and prayer that in 2years time my songs will be playing all over the town.
