How did you come about your stage name?

I came across my stage name in a dream. My last stage name was subbyblaq but I decided to change it. I was sleeping and I was singing the remix of Olamide and Dbanj’s “first of all” remix where he said bangalee den I heard a voice hailing me as “Subzylee”.

What inspired you to venture into music

I was inspired by the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti and my late dad who had a plan that one of his sons must be an icon in the music industry. I have what it takes to be a songwriter and an artiste.

Tell us about your Childhood and academic background

I was born into the¬†family of late chief Alao Akanni in Lagos, Agege to be precise but brought up in the area of Agege and Oke Aro. It is not easy, there is time for every thing, I write songs daily and I read daily, I play video games also. I’m always writing songs in the day and I read in midnight

What has been your greatest challenge and success as a budding Nigerian artiste

My greatest challenge is about promoting my song and hustling to get money to pay my studio fee and getting to the top of my potential.

You have a unique style, which top artiste would you like to feature and why

Its kiss Daniel because he inspires me all the time and his music is cool and meaningful. He is an outstanding artiste.

Subzylee Do you have any upcoming projects and who is your role model

Yes, Many. Like I said I write songs daily. Olamide is my role model, he is a hustler who rose from ghetto to stardom and still making good music in the industry.

Where do you see yourself 2 years from now?

I see myself in a better place, higher than where I am now. I see myself all over the media.
