SIQ

Musical history

He started off his journey into the music scene in 2011. He first joined a music group in Orile called Ill La Tunez, which  had a collection of other dope artistes like King Olek, Tenchris, Solo Swagz, and Cap T. After some time away from the crew, SIQ came back fully into the rap world in 2015, sounding much better.

He then joined another rap group, known as YD gang. The group consisted of himself, Jerry Jayne and a femcee known as Tasha Blinkz. They built an solid rap team and unleashed their lyrical prowess on various songs, stormed various shows and took out a number of underground competitions.

Discography

In the same year, he released his first official single titled if I was born rich. The song has a relatable a story line, and so it gained much acceptance among his fans.

He later released Shots, a song which  all music lovers would smile to after listening. It is a portrayal of his style of rap, his stay in the music scene and his  threat to others. The song has gained airplay on radio stations like Unilag FM and Radio continental. He has since then continued to release good music.

On the 25th of March in 2016, his new team and management; Kings men Entertainment where he’s currently signed to held his first ever concert. It was a well attended concert, and a major move orchestrated by a yet to blow artiste. The successful event gained more relevance in his area. And thus he is regarded as a top dog of the rap community in  Amukoko

He has been featured on quite a number of songs by other artistes. He’s also done a few cover songs. And just as expected, he never fails to deliver the best of verses on them. He has worked with high profile producers such as SDmix, Cheqvino of Upfront and Personal, 6ix Kilo (produced for Baseone and Seriki), Desto (produced for Solid Star, N.G, Eazy Jay, Sideone)

The 23 year old rapper is set to release his first musical project later this year. The 9 tracked E.P is titled Stories of a King. It features a selection of appearances form other dope artistes. The E.P touches all works of life, and can be enjoyed by every music lover.

Style of Music

First, ask him who his role models are, and he’ll tell you in his words

“I don’t wanna be no one, I just wanna be myself.. I am my own role model and so I’m just tryna be myself”.

Lyrically, he’s a big talent in the rap community, if not the biggest though. He’s like a prophet, anyone who listens to his songs seem to immediately want to take a replay. He always has long throat verses, that’ll make you want to listen to any song that he jumps on.

Basically, he is an English rapper, and flows sometimes in pidgin. But he also raps in Igbo language when the need arises. He has a fresh delivery and can put together deeply thought lines that’ll get you emotional depending on the theme of the song.

Most of his works have a story line that carries the listener along on every aspect. I’d say, we can compare his wordplay to that of five star music artiste X Busta. Sometimes you have  to decipher his lyrics, which might eventually get you laughing.

Verdict on SIQ

With the kind of hunger for greatness, consistency and persistence coming from him, we believe he would hit success in the music industry soon, both locally and internationally. He’s always working and hitting the studio every now and then and playing gigs across the state.  And in no time we at Hip Hop Head believe he’ll be on the radar for the hottest new rappers taking the game to a whole new level.
