Hausa Rapper CLASSIQ’S BIOGRAPHY – All The Things You Never Knew About Him

Today HipHopHead wants to shine the light on the fast rising Hausa rapper Classiq. His birth name is Buba Barnabas Luka. He was born on the 21st of September in 1991 which makes him 26 in 2017. He was born into a very religious family.

The promising Hausa hip hop artiste stylized his stage name as ClassiQ, he started making music at the young age of 16.

Classiq’s biography

This artiste intends to affect the Arewa hip hop scene positively by raising the musical standard and injecting the creativity it deserves. More importantly, he wants convince neutral listeners that there is more to Hausa hip hop than they know of.

He has made giant strides in the past few Years and is headed towards industry domination. He stands out as the most outstanding top Hausa rapper in 2017. the young man is never shy to state;

“Music chose me, I didn’t choose it”

Classiq’s Family background and education

Classiq is a graduate of Computer science from Bayero University in Kano. The uniqueness of his rap has gained him the attention of Hip hop heads from all over even beyond the shores of the country.

The Hausa rapper is the first of three children from a small nuclear family. Based on Bauchi, his father was a Lecturer and a Doctor of Geography while his mother who was a clinical nurse.

He began primary education at the prestigious Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Staff Primary School in Bauchi State.

Unlike BOC Madaki, Classiq wouldn’t drop out of school despite the distraction from music. He continued till he earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the Bayero University Kano in 2009 at the age of 20.

Classiq’s religion and tribe

Classiq is a christian from a minority ethnic group in Bauchi called the Bazuli tribe.

Classiq’s style of rap

He delivers his rap verses fluently in Hausa language. This does not take away his English linguistic prowess as he us equally as impeccably in American English.

As a Hausa rapper Classiq is also vast in Pidgin, the most widely spoken local vernacular in west Africa. He combines all of this on his verses.

He biggest competition however is from fellow Hausa rappers by the name Kheengz; an equally gifted musician.

He is widely regarded as the flag bearer for Hausa hip hop as he continues to craft his art. Classiq hits you every time with a mix of wit and ear catching punchlines that can make you either grab your head or laugh in amazement.

He credits Asa, Naeto C, Don Jazzy, Fela, Kahli Abdu, J.Cole, Kanye West, Talib Kweli, Common, Wyclef, Dido and HHP as his biggest musical influences. Classiq wants to create enjoyable music that can make you feel good about yourself. He is all about life and flexing.

This makes him the perfect fit for the commercially themed Nigerian music industry. It doesn’t matter if you don’t understand Hausa, you’ll love the rhythm.

Skills and discography

In addition to all the above, he is also a very talented music producer. Half of his songs were manufactured by himself, from songwriting to beat making to recording to mixing and mastering.

The release of his “Sarki” mix tape was a breath of fresh air. The project was met with great reviews and it can only leas yo more accolades for the 26 year old.

The project “Sarki” translated as “King” in English language, contains tracks like “duniya” ft Ruby,”‘duniya remix” ft Jesse Jagz, “kakaraka” “sarki” “magana”, “danburo uba shege” and a lot of other hit singles from him tearing up the northern airwaves.

He was featured by Vector on the remix of “King kong” alongside Phyno, Reminisce and Uzi. After the release of the track, many Nigerian hip hop observers agreed that his verse was the best.

Classiq is gradually ranking his spot among the elites of indigenous hip hop music alongside Olamide, Reminisce and Phyno. He is currently signed to Finesse entertainment. We wish Classiq all the best.
